           a. Define casta.  What kind of societies did the Spanish create in the New World?
           b. Define audiencia. What was the relationship of the Spanish colonies and Spain itself?
           c. Summarize the key points of the section entitled "Gold and Silver".  How was the generation of wealth from gold in the New World become a problem for Spain?
